Frequently Asked Questions

Bands For Heroes is designed for veterans at all stages of life and experience. You do not need to be a professional musician or have any formal training. If you are a Veteran who enjoys music - or who is simply curious about it - you are welcome.

Not necessarily. While many participants play guitar, bass, drums, or keyboards, we welcome Veterans at all skill levels. If you want to sing, play an instrument you’re just learning, or simply be part of the community, we encourage you to reach out.

Rehearsals are held weekly. Songs and materials are shared in advance so members can practice at home and arrive ready to play together. Check back here or contact us for the current schedule.

Participation in the Bands For Heroes program is free for Veterans. Our operating costs are covered through donations and sponsorships from people who believe this work matters.

Bands For Heroes is an independent nonprofit. We were inspired by the Band of Heroes program first supported through Music Mends Minds, but we are not currently affiliated with them or with the VA. We operate as a standalone organization.

You can make a donation directly through our Donate page. Every contribution, large or small, helps Veterans access transportation, equipment, and a consistent place to belong.

Community supporters, advocates, and volunteers are an important part of what makes Bands For Heroes possible. Visit our Get Involved page or send us a message through the Contact page to start a conversation.

We welcome inquiries from businesses and organizations who want to partner with us. Please reach out via the Contact page or send an email to our Sponsors & Partners address and we will get back to you promptly.
